Ding! Ding! Ding! Survey says...

Jackson jurors are ready to spill. The verdict will be read at 1:30 p.m. (that's 4:30 for you East Coasters and 3:30 for the Chicago folk.)

Do you think that MJ will have to go to the emergency room again on the way to the courthouse? I'm taking bets.

Handy little tabulation chart, thanks to CNN:

I'm not sure whether I should be ashamed to admit the following:

After not following the Michael Jackson trial at all, and mostly bemoaning the wall-to-wall coverage by CNN and other media outlets, I sat with Gaby after she got home from work and waited for the stupid verdict to be read on the slow loading video from the dreaded CNN.

G was thrilled. I was shocked. And we both agree that guilty or not, from now on, he needs to keep his hands off the little boys.

Later I thought, no way that's gonna happen.

Then this morning I thought, "I'm so glad i don't have to think about superfreak getting his frail black (white?) ass ready for prison."

So basically I'm all mixed up about Michael. But my neighbor told me on Sunday, "Let's face it: We have a system of social retribution for aberrant behavior. It has nothing to do with "justice." And I agreed.

So I'm going to think that it's some similar belief in me that's making me feel like the smiley face with the crooked smile, the one that probably represents a particular emotion (as smileys have come to do) but for me always seems to be saying, "Uhhhhh...ok."

I too ignored the entire trial, only to sit my ass on the couch yesterday and eagerly await the verdict. When it was all over I was left with an overwhelming sense of...ennui. I was bored, and not only was I bored, I was a little perplexed by all the fans outside the courthouse (I mean, Michael Jackson still has fans??).

The only time I've stated an opinion on the case was to say that even if he never laid a hand on any of those kids, never touched them inappropriately or gave them "Jesus Juice" or whatever, simply having them in his home and in his bed with absolutely immoral. And if he hadn't been surrounded by sycophants his entire life, maybe he would have learned that. I'm just afraid that a not guilty verdict is going to only reinforce his behavior/Peter Pan complex.
